Inspire Reading for Pleasure and Creative Writing

I love visiting schools and libraries and have experience working across a wide range of settings—from independent schools to Pupil Referral Units. As a fully qualified teacher, I tailor each session to best support and inspire your pupils, making sure every visit is engaging, educational, and fun.

📚 Amelia Cheeseheart Investigates

Ideal for Key Stage 1 (EYFS inclusion available—please contact me to discuss suitability)

These lively sessions are designed to foster reading for pleasure while developing early creative writing skills through storytelling and imagination.

A typical session includes:

  • A reading and introduction to Amelia Cheeseheart Investigates

  • A whole-group interactive “Design Your Own Mystery” activity

  • Individual character creation and mystery writing task

  • Q&A session with the author

⚔️ How to Be a Hero

Best suited for Key Stage 2

These sessions can support English lessons or complement topics on Anglo-Saxon or Viking history, linking fiction with curriculum content in a fun and memorable way.

A typical session includes:

  • A talk about the How to Be a Hero series and the inspiration behind it

  • My legendary (and undefeated!) True/False Viking Quiz

  • Readings from the books

  • Q&A session

  • Creative writing workshop: choose from

    • Creating a Magical Creature (ideal for younger or less confident writers)

    • Writing a World – inspired by the nine realms of Norse mythology

📦 What's Included

  • Optional extras: word searches, decoding challenges, colouring sheets

  • Editable parent letter to send home ahead of the visit

  • Option to order signed copies of my books

  • Free downloadable lesson plans and activities on the School Resources page

💰 Pricing

  • Half-day visit – £200 (plus travel at 45p per mile for journeys over 10 miles from Ipswich)

  • Full-day visit – £400 (plus travel)
