School Visits
I regularly visit a range of schools ranging from the independent sector to Pupil Referral Units. My sessions can be used to support learning on Anglo-Saxon or Viking history as well as English lessons. I am happy to adapt my sessions to best support and inspire your pupils.
A standard session would include:
-
A talk about my How to be a Hero books and the inspiration behind them
-
My infamous True/False Viking Quiz (I remain undefeated!)
-
Readings from the books
-
A question-and-answer session
This can be for any number of pupils; I have spoken to groups of anywhere between 5 and 500. I am happy to adapt the length of my talk to fit into the school timetable, maximum of 45 minutes.
I can also lead creative writing workshops lasting one hour each. The workshops can be on either Creating a Mythological Creature (this is particularly suitable for lower ability or younger students) or Writing a World in which students create a piece of writing inspired by one of the nine worlds of Norse mythology. Maximum of 30 students per workshop.
I can also provide additional resources including word searches, decoding challenges and colouring sheets.
If you have something specific in mind, get in touch and I'll see what I can arrange.
